Mad Tea Party

Karasawa Minco of Mad Tea Party has amazingly beautiful, cute artwork. Mad Tea Party is one of my favorite circles, and I highly recommend Karasawa-san's doujinshi.

Title: "Luna"
Artist: Karasawa Minco
Date of Publication: 8/16/1997
Size and Length: B5; 34 pages
Circle: Mad Tea Party
Comments: "Luna" is set after Haruka and Michiru meet in junior high. Haruka is in bed when she hears someone, and she looks up to see Michiru (in her school uniform) sitting on her window sill. They talk for a bit before Michiru goes outside and Haruka follows her. Haruka grabs Michiru's arm to ask her about the past and then Michiru surprises Haruka by kissing her. Haruka is shocked, and Michiru is happy. Haruka then remembers the past where she was Uranus and Michiru was Neptune (with really long hair), and then afterwards, Michiru wants to kiss Haruka again. They do, though Haruka is still embarrassed, then talk some more. Haruka then wakes up in bed and wonders if all of that was just a dream. The doujinshi is very cute. There's one colored picture of Michiru sitting in the ocean naked with the Neptune symbol on her forehead, and three stand alone pictures of Haruka, Michiru, and Elza in summer clothing. There's also some original pictures by Karasawa, and a picture of Haruka and Michiru in yukata at the end.

Title: "Paper Moon"
Artist: Karasawa Minco
Date of Publication: ??
Size and Length: B5; ?? pages
Circle: Mad Tea Party
Comments: Very cute doujinshi taking place in the Parallel Moon universe (the alternate universe side story from the Materials Collection manga artbook). Karasawa-san creates the characters Komichiru, Michiru's daughter, and Koharuka, Haruka's daughter. Haruka, Michiru, Koharu, and Komichi live together. This book focuses on Komichi and Koharu - Koharu isn't happy that Komichi calls Haruka "Haruka-papa," and after some kids at school make fun of them, Koharu gets mad at Komichi. At home, Koharu talks to her mom about their family. Koharu eventually makes up with Komichi. In a side story, the reader learns that Kosetsuna is, for sure, Pluto's daughter after Kosetsuna reveals her Chibi-usa smut.

Title: "Planetarium: Remix Only"
Artist: Karasawa Minco
Date of Publication: 03/29/1997
Size and Length: B5; 86 pages
Circle: Mad Tea Party
Comments: Approximately 90 pages of mostly Haruka and Michiru cuteness. I adore Karasawa's drawings. The stories in the doujinshi all come from other doujinshi she's done, hence the "remix only." They're all short comedies, no serious or very long ones in it. The first few stories are based on the Sailor Team only, but are still very cute; the later ones all focus on Haruka and Michiru. The art is gorgeous/adorable, and there are a ton of wonderful one-shots of Haruka and Michiru, Uranus and Neptune, and sometimes Setsuna and Hotaru. The ones with Haruka and Michiru are VERY pretty. Some of the cutest side drawings are based on "Alice in Wonderland" with Michiru as Alice, Haruka as the white rabbit, Setsuna as the Queen of Hearts or the Mad Hatter, and Hotaru as the dormouse. The Sailor Team, Setsuna, Hotaru, and Elza Gray appear a lot (Elza usually fights with Haruka over Michiru), though Hotaru is usually in baby form. Mamoru, the Three Lights, and the Amazoness Quartet all make appearances; a few villains appear in one scene only (Black Lady, Cyprine, Tomoe, Iron Mouse). So the stories cover all five seasons, nicely compacted in one book. The only downside to the book is the lack of serious stories (though the doujinshi is adorable anyway).
