Kyubey is the adorable mascot of the anime series
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ) (
Puella Magi
Madoka Magica), which was created by Shaft and Aniplex. The series began in January 2011 and ended in April 2011;
it was 12 episodes long. A three-volume manga adaptation of the anime series finished in May 2011, and two manga spin-off
series were also released.
Kyubey is a white rabbit/cat/squirrel-hybrid creature who enters into contracts with normal human girls. Kyubey agrees to
give the girls one wish, and in exchange, the girls agree to become Mahou Shoujo (Puella Magi), whose duty is defeating
Witches, creatures born of darkness and despair.
We meet Kyubey in episode one, when he first appears to the protagonist of
Madoka Magica, Kaname Madoka, in a
dream. Later, Madoka meets Kyubey in person when she saves his life from Akemi Homura. From there, Madoka's adventures
begin. ♥
